Kellie-Anne Poirier has More Than a Beautiful Song
What Music Lovers Notice
Kellie-Anne Poirier, this Canadian singer will catch your attention by any melody of your choosing.
This article interview was posted originally on April 22, 2018.
The National magazine, in the Arts & Culture section, states she “could be the next big name in world music if her inclusion in the Canadian television version of The Voice Kids is anything to go by.”
Kellie’s new 2018 song, “Beautiful in My Eyes” is one song you will want to make time for a listen on Spotify. While she is 15 years of age, the song truly puts her rich voice on display. The maturity of her voice and the lyrics will, as I mentioned in the onset of this article, catch your attention.
Her Youtube channel has originals and cover songs of some award-winning artists.

What is your songwriting process? Where does your inspiration come from?
My songwriting process usually begins with some sort of inspiration from experiences I have. I like to write my songs based on things that affect me, affect others, make me or my loved ones happy, inspire me, or even make me or people I care about, sad. My inspiration comes from people, events, experiences, nature etc.
How many instruments do you play?
I play the guitar and the piano.
It is my understanding your singing has received significant “propers,” as they say, from well-respected music enthusiast. Would you like to name a few?
I participated in the Voice kids, therefore the coaches themselves. I also collaborated with many songwriters, some of which had their songs played in many ABC and NBC tv shows. My music was also heard by record labels and many producers but I can’t name them because of confidential agreements.
You have talked about collaborating with musicians. Is there a specific musician skill you would like to have for a certain song? For example, like the harp or piano for instance. Feel free to express details.
I love instruments and wish I could play them all! However I love the violin and all orchestral, powerful instruments. I also love the ukulele and would like to learn the bass for better production. Lastly I also adore producing my own music, therefore learning to manipulate softwares and my keyboard-working station with more knowledge is one of my goals for the future!
How do you relax? What fun activities are at the top of your list?
I love to relax and spend quality time with my family and friends. Socializing for me is the most important thing and being mindful of where I am, is too. I love to try new things and live memorable experiences with the people I love. I also love a good Netflix and chill day and baking sweet treats.
What effect would you like for your music to have on people? For example; do you want people to relax and have a really good time or is there some message?
I would love my music to have an inspirational effect on people. I want to help people be more confident in their own skin and live their lives to the fullest without anything getting in their way. I want to make a difference in the world and raise awareness about important topics such as violence, diseases etc. I also want to entertain people, make them smile and dance of course.
I always like to ask if there’s a question you wish someone would ask but they never do? Would you like to share such a question with us?
I definitely love to get to know people, and I often feel that people don’t know enough about me and my family. I also would like people to ask me more about the true meaning behind my lyrics and songs. I write about very deep things and I feel that not everyone knows the true meanings.
Why do you feel music is important in your life and others?
Music is the key to all emotions and feelings. From making people happy, to making them recognize their mistakes, or inspiring them to be better people- music has it all. It helps people understand themselves and can put you in the best mood ever. Music can truly change people’s lives.
Do you have performances planned for this 2018 year?
This year I am planning to perform at the jersey shore festival, I have performances planned this summer for events in my home-town. I also always love to perform at open mic’s, restaurants and am hoping to go back to Nashville sometime this year.
Thank you so much Kellie-Anne for sharing your thoughts with us today.
